Straightforward answers to what members ask most — no fine-print language, no hedging.
Oakline is a federally-chartered community credit union, insured by the NCUA up to $250,000 per account. We are the bank — not a middleware layer on top of someone else's.
That means your deposits stay with us, our underwriting decisions happen in-house, and the person who answers your call works in the same building as the person who approves your mortgage.
About 6 minutes on the app or 15 minutes in a branch. You'll need a government-issued ID, your Social Security number, and any US-based address. First deposit can be as little as $5.
No. Our field of membership includes anyone who lives, works, worships, or attends school in Rhode Island, Southern Massachusetts, or Connecticut — and any immediate family member of an existing Oakline member. If you're already in, your kids are eligible for life.
No monthly account fee. No minimum balance fee. No overdraft fees (we just decline the transaction). No fee for mobile check deposit, ACH transfers, bill pay, or Zelle.
We do charge: $3 for wire transfers, $25 for replacement cards shipped overnight, and $0 for literally anything else day-to-day. Full fee schedule →
You can use any ATM, anywhere. We're part of the CO-OP network, giving you fee-free access to 30,000 ATMs across the US (including inside 7-Eleven, Costco, and Publix).
If you use an out-of-network ATM, the first four per month are reimbursed automatically. After that, it's typically a $3 fee from the other bank — we don't charge anything on top.
Freeze it instantly in the app, then tap "report lost." A replacement card mails the next business day, or you can pick one up at any branch during operating hours. If you need emergency cash before then, we can issue a temporary withdrawal via our 24/7 member support line.
Yes — and because we keep our loans in-house rather than selling them off, our decisions factor in more than just the credit score. We've approved plenty of members with thin credit files, recent graduates, and self-employed applicants who got turned down by big banks.
Current rates are posted at oakline.com/rates and updated daily.
Send us a message in the app, and we'll walk through it with you. Usually it's one phone call, we wire out your balance, and you're done. No closing fees, no exit interviews. We'd rather you come back one day than feel trapped.
